I’ve had a tough week this week. I’ve not done much and I’ve eaten all the wrong things and moved too little. I’ve had some very unproductive meetings and I missed an appointment which I thought was this week but was in fact last week! The weather has been grey and so I haven’t done my washing all week, so now I have a pile of clothes just sitting around. I’ve had some financial pressures and I’ve been late in writing and publishing my blog posts.
To top all this off – I’ve been transitioning back onto some antidepressants. Anyone that has done this, knows it makes you feel a bit weird. You can get all kinds of side effects and these come on top of the depression you are already feeling. So far, I’ve been pretty lucky side effects wise – just feeling a bit emotional (what’s new), sleeping issues and feeling a bit disconnected. So all in all – pretty good …. so far! The doctors are monitoring me closely due to my bad reaction to my last drug and I’m happy to say I’ve had absolutely no increase in anxiety …… at all! It’ll take about 2 weeks before I start to feel any positive benefits from my new meds but I am feeling hopeful. So until then, it’s easy as she goes.
While the week has been tough, I’ve had some good things happen to. I was taken, by a friend, to a great concert by one of the original Ten Tenors, David Kidd. It was a most enjoyable morning. It reminded me that music can change your mood quickly. So, with this thought in mind, instead of listening to sad contemplative songs, which I often do when feeling blue – I decided to revisit the Disco days of my youth and I have had such a fun week dancing around my house. Marvin Gaye, Sister Sledge, KC and the Sunshine Band, Saturday Night Fever with the Bee Gees and so many more have been on high rotation this week. Of course, underneath it all I am really a rock chick at heart, so The Rolling Stones, The Who and Led Zeppelin have also had some air time!
To top off the end of the week, I was tagged in a picture on Facebook by one of my sons and I felt like the good sure outweighed the bad!
Happy weekend and as it is finals time in our part of the world, may your footy team win!
