Music From My Heart – With A Little Help From My Friends – Joe Cocker – Woodstock 1969

Many times in your life you need your friends.  For me, my friends, are the people I rely on for my day to day support.  This is primarily because I live in a different country from my family and have done so for 35+ years.  My friends are my family in Australia.  I have the best friends and they have never let me down.

I have always loved a British wild man when it comes to music and I think Joe Cocker fits that description perfectly.  Not seeing him perform live at the Brisbane Expo ’88, is one of  my true regrets!  The fact that I was tricked into staying home to look after my kids, while my husband and his friend attended, in their words “one of the greatest concerts they had ever been too!” – was a tough mouthful to swallow.  Especially when I was the fan and they were not …. until after this concert!!  RIP Adrian, Ross & Joe.

I have chosen Cocker’s iconic, 1969 performance at Woodstock, of the Lennon/McCartney song, rather than the original Beatles version, because this version is very indicative of the strength and power of emotion I feel about my friends!

I give you, Try With A Little Help From My Friends – Joe Cocker – Woodstock 1969
