I really can’t believe that it was December last year that I last shared my thoughts via Pip from Meet me At Mike’s , Taking Stock format. She has added a few different words, which I too, have included and as always, I have included a blank form at the end for you to copy and paste to wherever you want. I would encourage you to add your list to the blog comments section below this post. It’s fun to see what is making others tick!
So grab a cuppa and slow your day down for a few minutes, while you think about and then, write your own list.
Taking Stock –
Making : An effort to try to go to bed at a reasonable and consistent time each night.
Cooking : Zucchini Slice is my latest favourite. It’s delicious either hot or cold and I have been using Julie Goodwin’s recipe which you can find here.
Drinking : Hot chocolate with marshmallows …. it is Winter!
Reading: A book of poems called eating roses for dinner written by the interesting and inspiring Musa Okwanga – who just happens to be a friend of my son, BerlinBoy and whom I meet while I was visiting last month.
Wanting: I want to be able to be financially secure and independent.
Looking: For a job! Yes, finding employment is my next really important thing to do.
Playing: The All Out 60’s playlist on Spotify ….. on repeat!!
Deciding: That my health is really important and seriously taking it in hand.
Wishing: That I loved doing exercise. I don’t!
Enjoying: The cold nights – great for getting a good nights sleep.
Waiting: Impatiently for the next season of Game of Thrones to come out in ….. 2017!
Liking: The wonderful team of footballers that my son is the player/coach of. SFC Friedrichshain Internazionale is an international leisure football team based in Berlin which stands against sexism, racism, fascism and homophobia.
Wondering: Who will be running our country, Australia, after the weekend election?
Loving: My beautiful, memory filled, photos from my trip to Berlin & Prague.
Pondering: Who the next President of the USA will be and what kind of impact they will have on the rest of the world?
Considering: Washing my windows – they definitely need it!!!
Buying: Lots of fruit and veges to stave off any winter colds and flu – so far so good!
Watching: Season 4 of Ray Donovan – Liev Schreiber only improves as he gets older.
Hoping: That my AFL football team, the Brisbane Lions, can sort out whatever it is that ails them and fix it before next season.
Marvelling: At my son’s positive attitude in the face of challenging health issues.
Cringing: At the many closed minds that seem to have a voice in the mainstream media.
Needing: Same as the last time – a small garden shed and a good office chair.
Questioning: My technical ability, when I don’t seem to be able to create and then work out how to watch, a simple slideshow of my holiday photos.
Smelling: My newest candle – Bora Bora by Glasshouse.
Following: The UEFA European Championship 2016 in France. That’s what happens when you spend a month in Europe!
Noticing: That as I age, my skin is becoming drier. Using moisturiser has become much more frequent, these days.
Knowing: That all the hard work I am doing will be worth it in the long run.
Thinking: About gate crashing the Village Roadshow Studio on the Gold Coast, in the hope of meeting up with Tom Hiddleston, who will be there for the next 4 months filming Thor: Ragnarok!!!!
Admiring: My cat’s ability to sleep anywhere, at any time.
Sorting: Through my, no longer worn, winter clothes for charity.
Getting: Amazing support from my friends & family from all over the world.
Bookmarking: Slow cooker recipes.
Coveting: A pair of Frankie4 shoes which I just can’t afford at the moment.
Disliking: The continued blaming of victims in many rape trials across the world.
Opening: My eyes to see just how blessed my life is.
Giggling: My way through the latest Taika Waititi movie Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
Feeling: Grateful for all the financial help I received, which enabled me to travel to Berlin, to visit my son when it was needed.
Snacking: Carrot & celery sticks dipped into smoked salmon philly cheese.
Helping: To take the stigma away from mental illness by sharing my story honestly on my blog and in conversation.
Hearing: When my adult sons ask me to back away and trusting them to be the strong capable men I hoped they would be.
Mixing: A really good Gin & Tonic – for my own pleasure.
Worrying: Continuing to worry about the plight of the refugees still in detention centres.
Slicing: Thin slices of cucumber and lemon to go in my perfect Gin & Tonic.
Celebrating: My ability to do hard things, like travelling to Europe and back alone!
Forgetting: I keep forgetting to put out some old seafood rubbish, that I have been keeping in the freezer, into the bin – the night before rubbish collection day!
Winning: At life at the moment! Not saying that winning is easy!!
Pretending: That I am a capable, healthy, motivated woman – all the time. Hoping that by pretending, I will in fact, live this confident way at all times.
Sneaking: Too much ice cream, so I’ve stopped buying it all. Current favourite flavour is Salted Caramel.
Embracing: Many things that I previously considered scary and therefore bad, which also meant, they had to be avoided. Then realising that not everything scary is necessarily bad but can also be fun and growth producing.
Okay – your turn now …. Here’s your list. have fun!!
