Wednesday’s Words: Love.

This morning I completely forgot to post.  I’ve had a medication increase and tomorrow BabyBoy is returning from Europe, after 5 weeks away and I have missed him.  I am feeling super emotional and inline with my last post on feelings – which you can read HERE – I pushed on and did some housework.  It was while hanging out the washing that I realised it was Wednesday and I needed some words!!

So I decided to go with pure pleasure today and share one of my most loved pieces of poetry about love.  It has been associated with Thomas Ford, a composer during the reign of Prince Henry and Charles 1, although most still attribute it to Anonymous in 1607.

There is a lady sweet and kind,
Was never face so pleas’d my mind;
I did but see her passing by,
And yet I love her till I die.

Her gesture, motion, and her smiles,
Her wit, her voice, my heart beguiles,
Beguiles my heart, I know not why,
And yet I love her till I die.

Her free behaviour, winning looks,
Will make a lawyer burn his books;
I touch’d her not, alas! not I,
And yet I love her till I die.

Had I her fast betwixt mine arms,
Judge you that think such sports were harms,
Were’t any harm? no, no, fie, fie,
For I will love her till I die.

Should I remain confined there
So long as Ph{oe}bus in his sphere,
I to request, she to deny,
Yet would I love her till I die.

Cupid is winged and doth range,
Her country so my love doth change:
But change she earth, or change she sky,
Yet will I love her till I die.

Because I have chosen to go with pure pleasure – I have decided to share a very schmaltzy version, blending the beautiful music of Lana Del Rey and the smooth as chocolate voice of Tom Hiddleston.  It’s not about the video image on the clip, which is taken from one of Mr Hiddleston’s movies, but rather about the sound.  Poetry is always better read aloud and for someone with heightened emotional output at the moment ….. I simply die when I listen to this.

Here is – There is a Lady …
